It’s week 6 of the Uppercross Quilt Sew Along and I’m not sure how we have come so far, because I feel like we just started! We are so close to finishing and the plus blocks are the last element to make before we start assembling the top of the quilt. I’m excited!
We only have a few more chapters of Persuasion left and it’s getting so good, right? Check below for what chapters to read this week and I’ll be sharing my thoughts and insights on Instagram on Sunday night. I love having our little book club chats.
And check out my little sneak peek of my upcoming pattern, Barton Park. It comes out this Friday and I’m SO excited!!
This is one of my favorite parts of the Uppercross pattern, the plus block!! These are so fun to make and super easy. There’s only one tricky part and that’s lining up the top and bottom of the “plus sign”. Let’s get to it!
Lining up your ruler with those seam lines again, cut out your Block 8 (Cottage), Block 10 (Classic) or Block 11 (Contemporary) pieces.
Try to line up your top and bottom blocks so the middle squares line up as you see here and in the picture below. I would pin, especially when sewing the second one on, because it’s easy to get a very wonky looking plus sign if they aren’t aligned.
Once you’ve created the plus sign, you’ll sew on the borders starting with the top and bottom borders followed by the side borders. All done! These come together so quickly and they’re super cute too!
Who wants pretty fabric?? This week’s giveaway from Rosie Girl Quilting is this stunning stack of fall inspired gorgeousness. It’s called Winterberry and it makes me think of sipping warm apple cider on one of those crisp autumn days. This fat quarter bundle would make such a beautiful Uppercross Cottage quilt, or a really pretty baby version of my upcoming pattern, Barton Park!!
HOW TO WIN:
PS – There won’t be a blog post next week. It’s catch up week so get all those blocks assembled and pressed for the final week!
