The Uppercross Cottage Quilt was inspired by traditional quilts and given a modern update.  The design is versatile and fun.

*Pattern includes instructions for 2 sizes: Baby (43″ square) and Throw (61″ square)

*Skill Level:  Confident Beginner

*Downloadable PDF:  Please enter a valid email address at checkout, your pattern will be emailed to you.  You can view the pattern on your computer, tablet or phone.  It can also be printed on 8 1/2″ x 11″ paper.

*This pattern utilizes strip piecing techniques.

*Pattern is Fat Quarter friendly and requires 6 Fat Quarters for both sizes.

*Pattern includes helpful diagrams, clear written instructions, alternate color ideas, and a coloring page to plan your project.

*Included are instructions for two versions, Classic (2 color) and Scrappy offered in both sizes.

*All Sara Lucille patterns assume yardage to be 42″ wide and seam allowance to be scant 1/4″.  (If your WOF is less than 42″, you may need more yardage.)

*Pattern is for personal use only.  Any duplication is prohibited.

Description

The Uppercross Cottage quilt was inspired by timeless and classic quilt design.  It was written with a nod to heirloom quilts and given a modern update.  It is written with instructions to use strip piecing techniques, and the quilt comes together easily using this method, without having to manipulate many small squares.   This quilt looks beautiful in many different color ways and is fat quarter friendly! Make sure you browse through all of the product images, and check out my blog post highlighting the tester versions to get inspired.  This quilt was named after a cottage mentioned in Jane Austen’s Persuasion. BABY PATTERN CORRECTION – SCRAPPY VERSION: (This applies to any pattern downloaded prior to July 17, 2021.)

Pg 4) Block 1 – Step 4: You will sew your 2″ x 12″ Color 1-5 strips to the 2″ x 10″ Background pieces to make the required number of Block 1 Units.

THROW PATTERN CORRECTIONS

Pg 2) Cutting Instructions Classic Throw – Cut 36 – 3 1/2″ squares

Pg 3) Cutting Instructions Scrappy Throw – Cut 8 – 3 1/2″ x WOF Strips.

Subcut 8 – 3 1/2″ x 21″ strips  AND  36 – 3 1/2″ squares.
