Barton Park
Inspired by a perfectly manicured manor house garden, Barton Park embodies a clean and sophisticated beauty. Can you imagine the crisply trimmed hedges and rose bushes as you wander along swept paths? Influenced by Jane Austen’s Sense and Sensibility, the Barton Park Quilt embodies the characteristics of both sisters, Elinor and Marianne. Block 1, “Marianne”, is blooming and dramatic, while Block 2, “Elinor” is structured and prim. Together, they complement each other to create an elegant and beautiful pattern.

I’m so excited to finally announce the release of the Barton Park Quilt pattern! It’s such a fun one to make. It’s great in solids or prints, is gorgeous in any size (comes in SIX sizes by the way!) and is the perfect skill builder pattern for anyone wanting to perfect their half square triangles, flying geese or quarter square triangles!
This pattern takes on a whole different look when made with different color combinations as you will see when you scroll through all of the gorgeous tester versions below. Each one is so unique. You will want to make this one again and again. I’m already working on my third one!!
The Barton park quilt pattern includes:
- Six different size options from baby to king with two different throw size options.
- Fabric requirements and carefully detailed cutting instructions.
- Beautifully illustrated diagrams and clearly written instructions for assembly.
- The perfect skill builder reference for half square triangles, flying geese and quarter square triangles.
- A link to my video tutorial on spinning seams.
- A coloring sheet to help you play around with fabric options.
- 8 color mocks-ups to give you ideas and inspiration for your own quilt.
- The most adorable fabric labels to keep you organized while you sew!
barton park quilt skill level: confident beginner
I’ve labeled the Barton Park difficulty as “confident beginner” due to the fact that you need to be consistent with your scant 1/4″ seam throughout. This is doable for any beginner quilter, it just takes a bit of practice.
This quilt also includes quarter square triangles (QSTs) which are not too complicated but aren’t as commonly used. My instructions, illustrations and tips make it easy to get them perfect every time.

THE TESTERS
I had the best group of makers who graciously agreed to test this pattern for me. These women are extremely talented and have made some of the most beautiful quilts I’ve ever seen. Please check out their instagram accounts and give them some love, they are all truly amazing!!!
Elaine used this gorgeous fabric by Gingiber called Dwell in Possibility, to create such a stunning Barton park Quilt. I love the darker prints with the pops of orange and gold. This version has such a sophisticated elegance.
Amanda used beautiful muted browns and greens mixed with some subtle prints to create this soft and stunning version. She also hand quilted the whole thing and the close up photos are stunning!!
Becky used the most gorgeous pops of red and some bold floral prints to make this version stunningly beautiful.
Shelby made this pretty Barton Park quilt using all solids. I love her use of red and green. The blocks almost look like poinsettias and evergreens viewed from above. Plus that floral backing is divine! Christmas quilt anyone??
Mary used all solids as well but I especially love her unexpected gray linen background. It makes the whites and blues just pop and gives this version a more modern feel. And that pickle?? It’s so perfectly fun!
Farrah made this perfectly soft and sweet version. The pale blue background and soft colors are so dreamy. I want to snuggle up with this one on a cold, rainy day.
Victoria used a few prints from Sharon Holland’s new line Bookish combined with blenders and solids from Art Gallery Fabrics. This one has the hopeless romantic in me swooning! Kits of this one are available here.
Brie had my heart when she chose that yellow floral and paired it with those green ferns! I love these together SO much. This is the twin size with the option 2 layout. Wouldn’t this look adorable in a little girls room??
Jordan picked the most gorgeous fall inspired solids for her version of Barton park. I love the warmth and texture in her quilt. Jordan used all Art Gallery Fabrics so I can imagine how soft and sumptuous this quilt is in person. You can get a kit for this version in a large throw from Jordan’s shop here.
This bright and fun version by Jenn is so whimsical! She combined a floral print with stripes and polka dots to make this fun and happy version. Doesn’t it make you smile?
That blue background is the star of this perfectly sweet baby quilt. Wouldn’t this just make the best baby shower gift?? I love how Ashlee’s layout makes the pattern look more geometric and modern.
Amanda is one of the most talented quilters I know! She made this gorgeous version using a mix of florals and prints. The way those blues play in block 2 is simply stunning!
Lynn was invaluable to me as a tester. She tackled the queen size and helped me to reconfigure the queen layout and block size. Consequently, the queen size has a different layout than what you see here, with smaller blocks. I love her bright solid colors. They stand out so well.
Britt created a Barton Park quilt that is perfectly pretty in pink. I love that subtle grid she used for the background. It gives the quilt a lot of texture and interest.
Alicia decided to go scrappy with this bright mix of florals. It turned out so fun!! This quilt is sweet and happy and reminds me of my grandma’s perfect scrappy quilts.
Mary helped me re-create the cover quilt you see on my pattern! It’s a gorgeous mix of pinks and greens that embody by brand perfectly. So gorgeous! Mary has kits available here.
Liza Taylor Handmade curated a custom quilt kit to make this beautiful version. It’s a mix of sweet florals and soft solids. Head to her shop to get this fabulous large throw kit!
