The Barton Cottage quilt is a modern interpretation of the original Barton Park quilt. Ā With it’s simple, yet stunning design, it makes a bold statement. Ā I love the Barton Cottage quilt because you can literally make it in a day or two! Ā It’s one of those fun, quick and satisfying makes that’s perfect for that last minute baby shower gift or to spruce up your home as a pillow or wall hanging. Ā
sense & sensibility
classic
The Classic version of Barton Cottage looks very similar to block two in the Barton Park quilt pattern. Ā It has a few more embellishments and add flying geese that create a stunning diamond shape.Ā
contemporary
The contemporary version is the same as the classic version, but the block is set on point, which gives the quilt a completely new look!Ā

With two different versions of the quilt and four sizes, this pattern gives you 8 different options! Ā There are so many fun ways to make this quilt. Ā Let’s take a look!Ā
Quilted pillow
Barton Cottage quilt makes the most adorable quilted pillow. Ā I especially like the contemporary version made up into a pillow, but both versions are so cute.Ā
Britt @stitchingb made this modern quilted pillow in the classic version. Ā I love her color choices and the quilting pattern she chose. Ā So stunning!Ā
With how quickly these come together, Farrah, @farrah.handmade was able to make two quilted pillows!! Ā I love how different each one is. Ā That first version in Wild Forgotten prints is so soft and beautiful. Ā But I love how those bright yellows and golds just pop against the navy background. Ā
And here’s my quilted pillow in the contemporary layout. Ā I had a lot of fun pulling out some of my favorite woven and linen fabric for this quilted pillow. Ā They add so much gorgeous texture!Ā
Wall hanging
I’ve recently had this strong desire to decorate my home with more quilts! Ā They add such visual interest and showcase my love of quilting so perfectly. Ā For Christmas this year, I hung a large Christmas tree quilt right in my front room and it gave the house such a festive feeling all season long. Ā The Barton Cottage wall hanging is 24″ square so it’s the perfect size for a smaller spot that needs that extra bit of color or interest. Ā Ā
I absolutely love this little spot Amanda @graccione chose for her contemporary wall hanging. Ā Doesn’t it look so perfect there?? Ā Amanda is a master at mixing prints and this beautiful wall hanging is no exception. Ā I’ll never say no to a Rifle Paper Co floral. Ā
I’m not sure if you remember Amanda Smith’s @thequiltsmith earthy and sumptuous Barton Park quilt, but she used the same color palette and some of the same fabrics to create her wall hanging. Ā I’m absolutely in love with these rich, forest inspired colors. Now I’m ready for a quiet walk in the woods. Ā
I had so much fun pulling out these saturated colors and textured fabrics for my wall hanging. Ā This is the classic version and I found this awesome wood wall hanger on Amazon that’s just perfect. Ā This one got the hand quilting treatment and it’s just so crinkly. Ā
baby quilt
I’m sure as a quilter you’ve had a friend who decided at the last minute they just have to have a hand made quilt for their soon to arrive little one and you’ve been scrambling to get a quilt made in time! Ā Right?? Ā Well, this pattern is the perfect solution. Ā You can literally make it in a day if you have a few hours to commit to the task and it turns out so fun and modern. Ā The perfect addition to any nursery. Ā Ā
Did you make or purchase the Barton Park quilt? Ā Well Mary @embercraftcompany decided to make an entire Barton collection and made the Barton Park throw plus the Barton Cottage baby and pillow sizes. Ā How perfect is this??? Ā I love how these patterns work together so beautifully. Ā
How gorgeous are these colors and fabrics that Victoria @midlifequilter put together? Ā She’s always got the most romantic and dreamy photos and this Barton Cottage quilt is no exception. Ā
Throw quilt
It’s hard to resist making that perfect throw size, am I right? Ā The one that fits exactly on your lap and is perfect for cuddling? Ā The Barton Cottage throw is 60″ square and is my favorite size quilt. Ā It looks gorgeous in both versions and is so fast to make!Ā
I think I fell off my chair when Lynn @lynncycle sent me these photos. Ā I mean, wow!! Ā Gorgeous. Ā You can make this exact quilt if you want. Ā The Fabric Haus has a kit! Ā I love that floral from the Art Gallery Fabric Velvet collection. Ā So pretty. Ā
And how gorgeous are these reds and golds? Ā I love that moth print from the Kismet collection. Ā I think Alicia @modernvintagehandmade will have kits for this one too!Ā
